Care for opals:
Clean gently
Use a soft cloth or toothbrush, mild detergent, and warm water to gently clean opals. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, and ultrasonic cleaners. Rinse off any remaining detergent and pat dry with a tissue.
Avoid water
Opals are porous and contain water, but prolonged exposure to water can cause the layers to separate and become foggy or grey. Don't soak opals or immerse them in water. If you have a doublet or triplet opal, keep it out of water as much as possible.
Avoid heat
Opals can crack and craze if exposed to intense heat or extreme temperatures.
Avoid scratches
Opals are soft and sensitive to scratches and shocks, so protect them…
The opal is set with two prongs, which were custom designed as leaves.
The opal was 3D scanned so it would fit perfectly into the new setting.
The letter 'K' was monogrammed behind the opal.

Custom Creations
The design was created in CAD (computer aided design) using Matrix Gold. Matrix is a parametric based program specifically used for jewelry. A 3D resin model was printed, and from that a mold was created for casting using a "lost wax process", named for the fact that the resin model in burned away to create the mold. This is a one-off piece that will never be recreated except by client request.
